It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Senior Wildlife Warden Solomon Chidunuka of Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife.

The Times and Sunday Times Christmas Appeal closed on Sunday, having raised a record amount for the three charities supported, including more than £630,000 for Tusk.

This time last year, Tusk launched the Living with Wildlife appeal in partnership with Send a Cow, to raise funds to protect the people and wildlife of Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. As we reflect on the success of the fundraising appeal, the difference it will make is more important than ever in light of the extra challenges that have emerged over the past year.

South Africa’s Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Environmental Affairs has released its 2019-2020 SANParks Annual Report, in which the full impact of rhino poaching in the world-famous Kruger National Park has been fully documented for the first time in some years. The figures report a loss of two-thirds of the park's white rhino population, and one-third of its black rhino population within less than a decade.

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Tusk Conservation Awards. These industry-leading accolades celebrate African conservation leaders and wildlife rangers and showcase their significant impacts in the field.
