For 36 years, Neddy Mulimo dedicated his life to conservation. His passion and drive were the reason he was selected to run an elite and highly targeted Specialist Anti-Poaching Unit in 2008. Day and night, he dedicated his time and energy to unearthing information about illegal poaching activities and guiding the five units he supported to help them meet their fullest potential.
As a mentor and instructor, he was an inspiration to many young rangers with whom he worked. He assisted all his units with a quiet determination, and actively lobbied on their behalf to improve working conditions. Neddy was instrumental in forming policies on ranger welfare, ensuring that all rangers in his units had some of the best support in Zambia.
“When I look back on my career, I’m proud to be a shining example to other rangers. I want people to join me and understand why resource protection is the best career anyone could discover.” Neddy Mulimo
“Some may have underestimated Neddy, he had the kindest smile and a playful twinkle in his eye. But he struck me as a man of impeccable character. Tough as nails, but empathetic. Humble but proud. He was a man who had clearly walked the walk. Who had given the sacrifices that so many others talk about. Who had forged a path, and led. He was a ranger.” Andrew Campbell, Game Rangers Association
