Deep Blue Crew: Rowing Across The Atlantic For Tusk

Today the Deep Blue Crew will embark across the Atlantic, rowing 3,000 miles, to raise funds for Tusk, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and The Clock Tower Foundation.

For the third year in a row, the World’s Toughest Row, Atlantic, will see a team of rowers travel from the shores of San Sebastian de La Gomera, Spain, to the finish line in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua, raising funds for Tusk as they row.

The race will see the 4-man team – Paddy Ronan, Jack Ogden, Matthew Bromham and Gus Knott – travel 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, rowing consistently for 2 hours on and 2 hours off every day until the finish line is reached. Each team will complete over 1.5 million oar strokes during the race. The race is different, due to the weather and winds, with waves reaching up to 20ft high and temperatures ranging from 10 degrees at night to low 30s during the day.

Jack said taking on this challenge is ” a combination of wanting to test myself, wanting to see what I’m made, of wanting to make myself and my family and friends proud”. Despite it originally sounding like an “awful” idea, he then decided that it was “an amazing adventure”.

We are immensely proud that the team has chosen Tusk as one of the charities for which to raise funds, as they take on this challenge of a lifetime.

Please join us in wishing them the best of luck and help them reach their goal by donating HERE, A third of your money will support Tusk as well as contributing to two deserving charities – My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and The Clock Tower Foundation.
