The 2023 Tusk Conservation Awards, in partnership with Ninety One, will be held on Monday 27th November to recognise extraordinary conservation leaders and their significant impacts on wildlife and communities across Africa.
Launched by Tusk in collaboration with Prince William in 2013, this year’s awards ceremony will be held at London’s iconic Savoy Hotel and hosted by wild animal biologist and natural history broadcaster, Liz Bonnin. Now in its eleventh year, the Tusk Conservation Awards recognise dedicated, forward-thinking individuals with inspirational stories and incredible impact from across the continent and tell their stories to the world.
The Awards have served as a springboard for Africa’s foremost conservationists. These guardians of biodiversity have since risen to the top of their fields, scaling their work and amplifying conservation impact across the continent.

The 2023 ceremony will reveal the winners of three awards:
- The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa, sponsored by Ninety One is for a lifetime’s achievement, given to a distinguished individual for their outstanding dedication and exceptional continued contribution to conservation in Africa.
- The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa, sponsored by Defender, is given to an emerging leading conservationist, in recognition of outstanding success shown in their chosen field.
- The Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award gives international recognition to the dedication and commitment of an individual who works in the field on a daily basis to protect Africa’s wildlife. The award is sponsored by the Nick Maughan Foundation.
