Support Tusk UK

Tusk’s aim is to maximise the funds reaching the field. On average 80% of net funds raised are allocated in grants to projects and with your help we hope to increase our overall support. Each project is carefully monitored to ensure your money is being used effectively. Please consider how you would like to make a donation using any of the tax-effective methods listed below.

Make a secure online donation via our JustGiving Donations page. You can choose to make a single or a monthly donation.

Call 01747 831 005 now to make a donation by phone.

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. If posting a cheque (made payable to ‘Tusk Trust’), please also ensure you fill out and return a gift aid declaration if you are a taxpayer, so we can maximise your donation by reclaiming tax.

Download a Donations & Standing Order Mandate form, to make a single, monthly, quarterly or yearly donation. Complete and return the form to the Tusk office in the UK. The mandate gives you full control of a larger donation spread over a period of time if you want, and it is processed by your bank for your ease and peace of mind. It also includes a GiftAid section so you can help us to maximise your donation by reclaiming tax.

Donate via a bank transfer direct to us. Please call or email Andree for our bank details and advise us of your name and address, if you wish, for inclusion in our database. You can download our Giftaid Form so we can reclaim tax on your donation, or you can request one in your email or by 'phone.

Other ways you can donate to TUSK

1. Set up your own Tusk JustGiving Fundraising Page! It's easy!
If you are raising money for Tusk through one of its events and want an easy way for your friends and family to sponsor you, you can create a personalised online sponsorship form in minutes via Justgiving. Your supporters can donate via credit or debits cards for single or multiple donations and it also takes care of Gift Aid so we can reclaim tax on your donation. Just go to our Tusk JustGiving page and follow the simple instructions.

2. Share Giving
For UK donors with investments, giving shares may be a very effective way to make a substantial gift to Tusk, as the donation will be eligible for income tax relief. In addition, Capital Gains Tax (CGT) does not apply to donations of shares. Tusk has very kindly been supported by the Orr Mackintosh Foundation, an independent registered charity which operates the popular ShareGift scheme. For more details please contact Andree on andree@tusk.org

3. Payroll Giving
This allows you to donate direct from your salary before any other deductions are calculated – so you do not pay tax on the amount donated. You need to check with your payroll department to see if your employer offers this facility. Alternatively, you can ask your employer to simply sign up with a Payroll Giving Agency which will also benefit them. It’s quick and easy for this facility at no cost to the employer. For further information visit the Payroll Giving web site.

4. CAF
If you have a CAF account, you can simply donate via a CAF cheque. If you wish to apply for a CAF account, please visit www.cafonline.org for a step-by-step guide to creating one and how it works.

5. Leave a Legacy
Leaving a legacy is one of the easiest ways to make a gift to charity. All charitable bequests are deducted from the value of the estate before inheritance tax is calculated. Inheritance tax is charged at 40% on estates over and above the current threshold of £600,000 for married couples and civil partnerships, £300,000 on an individual. There are two types of legacy bequest, Pecuniary and Residuary. Pecuniary means that the amount or nature of the bequest is made clear in the will; a Residuary leaves a percentage of the estate to the charity after all other debts and bequests have been discharged. Leaving a legacy is a good way to make a significant donation and help secure the charity’s long-term future.

Consult your solicitor on making a will or to make an adjustment to include Tusk, or alternatively visit the 'Remember a Charity' site for a step-by-step guide. If you decide to include Tusk in your will for a legacy, we would be grateful if you could inform us of your decision. Alternatively you could request a pledge card by emailing andree@tusk.org

6. Support the Tusk Foundation
The Trustees of Tusk, with the full support of our Royal Patron, Prince William have very recently launched a targeted appeal to establish a permanent endowment fund. The aim is to rapidly build the capital held in this fund to £1m over the next three years and thereafter continue to increase it to £5m.

An endowment fund is extremely valuable for a charity as it can supply a steady and dependable source of income. It is a timely and responsible initiative by the Trustees to embark on this drive for greater self-sustainability. A contribution towards the Tusk Endowment Fund is ‘a gift, which keeps on giving’ and will also create a lasting testimony.

Maximise your donation to TUSK through GIFT AID

Gift Aid allows Tusk to reclaim the tax on your donation. For every £10 that you give, Tusk will receive another £2.80 from the Government (at current tax rates). The only condition is that you have to be a UK tax payer.

If you would like Tusk to reclaim the tax on your donation just download our Gift Aid form, sign, date and return in the post to Tusk.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer you can claim tax relief against your gift aid too. If you pay 40%, you can claim the difference in the tax paid (40%) and the tax reclaimed by us (25%), which equates to 15% reclaimable. All you need to do is insert the details of your charitable donations on your tax return. You can now opt to donate that additional tax benefit by completing section 19a of your tax return. For more details visit www.hmrc.gov.uk.

Thank you for your donation. With your help we can continue to expand our support to many projects across Africa.

If you have any further questions on how to make a donation, please email Andree, or phone her on 01747 831 005
