DYING BREEDS a lecture by Graham Boynton, Charlie Mayhew and John Rendall
Date: Sunday 30th September
Venue: 3pm Kenton Theatre, Henley on Thames
The desperate fight to preserve the wild animals of Africa is a constant battle as our three guests know far too well. Charlie is the Chief Executive of the Tusk Trust which has been initiating and funding conservation and community development for over 20 years. Travel writer Graham has just returned from Africa investigating rhino-poaching. In Swinging Sixties London John bought a lion cub from Harrods and called him Christian. It made them both celebrities and inspired films and a book, eventually the lion was released back into the wild in Kenya. Years later John, now an avid conservationist, was reunited with the lion in Africa in what has become one of the internet’s most viewed clips which was seen been millions.
